Take Action: The “Natural Asset” Scam is Back

The Biden-Harris administration is resuming the effort to further its “green” and “globalist” agendas by monetizing “environmental services.” They are claiming ownership of natural processes such as open air, photosynthesis, and pollination. Then they, not the consumer, are arbitrarily setting the value of these assets.

Patriots must reject this latest bid to create artificial markets for such a scam. It is, after all, designed in part, to track our progress towards the United Nation’s “sustainable development” targets and world government at the expense of our property rights and national sovereignty.

After the New York Stock Exchange withdrew its application to create Natural Asset Companies, or NACs, last January, some hoped that the radical environmentalists would give up on their campaign to sell off to the Chinese Communist Party and other investors the right to determine the uses to which federal and private lands, water and even air can be put. That would effectively preclude virtually any productive use of such resources unless the NACs allow otherwise for “sustainable” purposes.

Unfortunately, the Department of Agriculture, using a process known as a request for “information,” has set September 16th as the deadline for the public to make comments on a new gambit towards the same end – the “Sustains Act” passed in 2022. This act offers a vehicle for private entities to help fund federal conservation programs on private lands.

Under the Sustains Act, the “contributing entity” and the government are able to “prescribe the terms of ownership” of the environmental services – not the actual owners of the property.

It is not entirely clear how this would work, but land currently enrolled in federal conservation programs may be imperiled retroactively.

This Act now provides the way for the Biden-Harris Administration to implement their “National Strategy to Develop Statistics for Environmental – Economic Decisions (SEED).” This Strategy’s goal is to create a new line item on the federal balance sheet titled “Natural Capital Accounts” (NCAs). One of the assets added here would be the contrived value of “environmental services.” The additional NCA value would then enable the administration to create vastly more national debt.

The American people are, almost without exception, uninformed about any of these affronts to one of our constitutional Republic’s foundational principles: private property. As with the Natural Asset Companies – to which the public strongly objected when apprised of their imminent adoption and implications, leading to the withdrawal of the NYSE’s proposed rule – our countrymen and women will want no part of this NCA scheme.

That sentiment needs to be expressed by September 16th, however. Please use the attached letter right away to serve notice of your opposition to the Department of Agriculture’s gambit to both the USDA and your elected representatives. If you miss the deadline, please send in a comment anyway! We need the executive branch and especially Congress to know that the American people do not want the government trampling, selling off, or otherwise eroding their property rights.
